Description
Brighton and Hove Black History Group present stories from Black and Minority Ethnic people who, from the 1950s to 1970s, came from former British colonies to train and work for the NHS. Post-war staff shortages led the NHS to launch recruitment campaigns overseas and the resulting immigration changed the demographic of urban centres like Brighton & Hove. Time and Place explores this significant point in history for both the UK and the local area. The poster display, by Brighton and Hove Black History Group, looks at the contribution made by ten women who worked as nurses at Brighton General Hospital.
