Brighton & Hove Open Door
Annually over the second weekend of September.
We stage our Brighton & Hove 'Open Door' event as a part of the Heritage Open Days celebration of England's architecture and culture. Heritage Open Days itself is a part of the overarching European Heritage Days. Open Door provides visitors with free access to The Regency Town House and any other local properties participating under the Open Door 'umbrella'.
Dr Simon Thurley, Chief Executive, English Heritage, says:
"Heritage Open Days has become an important part of the heritage calendar, allowing everyone, wherever they live and whatever their background, to enjoy, understand and feel a part of the country's rich and diverse cultural heritage."
Nigel Burton, Chairman of the Civic Trust, says:
"Heritage Open Days is about people and places; it celebrates community and reflects the importance of the built environment in our lives and to our quality of life. It is organised by local people who dedicate their spare time to opening properties and staging activities, and it is their knowledge and enthusiasm that makes Heritage Open Days happen."
Open Door 2008 is organized by our Town House volunteer workforce and our local venue organizers. We are grateful to all of them for their hard work. Why not take a look at our Open Door 2008 event.
